About
Mochikomi is a traditional system unique to Japanese manga where aspiring creators bring their work to publishers for live feedback. The practice is key to the growth of the manga industry and is an invaluable way for artists to receive advice and to grow creatively. It makes telling impossible stories possible.
We’re thrilled to announce KODANSHA Mochikomi Fresh Ink 2025. Established and aspiring manga creators who plan to visit Kodansha House should submit their work (see below). Selected applicants will have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to participate in this legendary practice. Mochikomi finalists will not only sit down with an editor for a 1:1 portfolio review, but also receive an invite to an exclusive Q&A with a panel of editors at KODANSHA HOUSE this October.
Completed manuscripts must be a one-shot work of a minimum of 16 pages.
Submissions are open from August 1st to August 15th at 11.59 PM EST, or once 1,000 applications are submitted. Winners will be notified by email on August 28th. See full details below.
